How does online giving help?
Your joyful contribution of any amount will become an important part of the noble effort to provide tuition assistance for
a student's academically rich and continuous journey through the Pharr Oratory School System's grades Pre-K through 12th.
TUITION ASSISTANCE
Affording a quality private Catholic education can be a challenge for some families.
The parent bears the primary responsibility for financing their child's education to
the extent possible. After that, the Oratory Schools either finds others to assist
or seeks grants and has fund raising campus events specifically to support its Tuition Assistance Program.
Our schools offer tuition assistance in two forms:
Need-based requires that a parent complete the required online tuition application form on a timely fashion available on our school website. Once the deadline is reached, a committee of administrators and faculty review the eligibility list provided by FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment online program and makes a selection. Unfortunately, because funds are limited, our assistance program gives first and primarily to those most in need who have shown to live a model life according to the Catholic faith.
Merit-based requires demonstrated talents by a student in a specific area such as academic, athletic, or artistic. Due to inadequate funds, these awards are usually limited to one or two students per year and are often sponsored by an anonymous donor or Catholic organization. Donate Now!
ORATORY ATHLETICS
Sports in the Oratory Schools are part of an integrated balanced approach to teaching students. That approach balances
academics with exercise and personal growth. It follows the old classical philosophy of "mens sana in corpore sano".
In the fall of 2011, the campus will be initiating its football, soccer, and track competitive sports season as a member
of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) for regional and statewide sports competition.
Some of the sports offered at this time include:
CULTURAL ENRICHMENT (Caminos de Santidad y Sabiduría)
In keeping with our Catholic multi-cultural educational philosophy, benefits in traveling abroad give a student a new fram
e of reference for understanding the world and their role in it. Our study abroad program provides cultural exposure to
four European countries, the convents, monasteries, churches, etc. of St. Teresa of Avila, St. Ignatius Loyola,
St. Francis of Assisi, St. Mark, locations of Marian apparitions, Our Lady of Lourdes and Our Lady of Fatima,
the catacombs, and culminates with a tour of the Basilica in Rome and an audience with the Pope. Study abroad
also gives the seniors opportunities to travel by plane and participate in site- specific guided tours.
It exposes them to places where the arts, architecture, the academics, and miracles played important roles in world
history and the development of the Roman Catholic Church. It helps students become more knowledgeable and wiser about
the past, the present, and their place in their future. Donate Now!
GREATEST NEED
At times, the Oratory Schools face a new challenge each year that perhaps exceeded the amount set aside in the budget
or could not have been foreseen. For example, it may be determined that campus security must be strengthened to address
the issues of break-ins, border violence, or prevent strangers from walking onto campus. It could mean that additional
cameras, security officers, and police officers must be procured. Greatest need could also be the performing arts students
are in need of performance costumes, stage props, or travel money to compete upstate or beyond. Greatest need often comes
with least notice! Donate Now!
