MarioOn behalf of the Pharr Oratory of St. Philip Neri School System, I welcome you to our website. Whether you are a parent, a student or simply someone interested in the history and current activities of the Oratory Schools I would like to thank you for taking the time to make this virtual visit. In my present role as the school's second Director I am very proud of the entire school community which I began to lead in the 2005-2006 school year. I am optimistic for our school's bright future and entrust our endeavors to the intercession of The Blessed Virgin Mary who will see our works to a good end.
Pharr Oratory Schools Receive NOAA Public Alert Radios
Supported by special congressional funding, the Department of Homeland Security has joined with the Departments of Education, Commerce, and Health and Human Services to place a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Public Alert Radio in every school in America in order to establish a strong national school alerting capacity.
The Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is making a licensed NOAA Public Alert Radio available to be placed at our school to strengthen the school community alert and warning systems. In addition to preparing staff, students and school communities for emergencies, this access to alerts and warnings will provide us with the information we need to respond quickly and appropriately should an incident develop.
NOAA Public Alert Radios are design to signal different types of alerts to the public for all-hazards situations, ranging from weather and human-caused emergencies to law enforcement alerts, such as child abductions. NOAA Public Alert Radios offer the capability to transmit alerts to a specific city or region, or nationwide depending on the circumstance.

August 2008 - Letter From the Director
Dear Parents,
Welcome to the 2008-2009 school year of the Pharr Oratory of St. Philip Neri School System. Some of you are new members of our Oratory Family and I can assure you that you and your child will find our school community a warm and welcoming place.
Our community has so much to offer - encourage your child to come to school and become engaged with the broad variety of experiences the Oratory has to offer. As our school has been blessed with robust growth this school year, we are pleased to welcome new teachers into our school to continue the academic excellence we strive to achieve every year.
We have received a Kenedy Foundation grant this year to implement a video conferencing program. This new program will enable students to participate in discussions with experts in various fields in real time via this state of the art distance-learning tool. It is our intention to continue expanding this program to include the possibility of virtual field trips for students in all grade levels.
Let us give thanks to Almighty God for his continuous blessings on us. Let us also invoke the protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary on our school, our children and our families as we embark on a new academic year.
In Christ and St. Philip Neri,
Rev. Mario A. Avilés, C.O.
Director
